Type Locality and Naming

The type section is on the Central Island of the Dapu Sea, Xinjie, Hong Kong. It was named by Li Zuoming in 1985.


Lithology and Thickness

Clastics: Interbeds of black shale and siltstone, intercalated with quartz-sandstone. Exposed thickness is 30 m.

Lower contact

Uncertain relationship with underlying strata.

May be partly coeval with the Tulugang Fm on nearby location?

Fossils

Land plants: Gigantopterides of Pecopteris cf. norinii, Cordaites cf. schenkii, Compsopteris cf. contracta, etc.


Age 

It belongs to the Maokou’an Subepoch till the Lopingian Epoch = Guadalupian Epoch (Middle Permian). [Note: Carboniferous lexicon chart column suggests (dotted) that it might be younger than the Tulugang Fm siltstone]
